Property Description

The property and village Substantial, extended barn conversion situated in this delightful rural setting between the villages of Melbourne and Ticknall. This home, which extends to around 2,648 square feet, offers impressive, flexible accommodation over two floors and includes four bedrooms (two with en-suite facility), lounge, library and a simply stunning dining/living room. Externally there is off road parking, two single garages and a well maintained, established rear garden.

Melbourne itself is a sought after market town in South Derbyshire and located between the city of Derby to the North and Ashby-de-la-Zouch in the south. The town includes a variety of shops, pubs, restaurants, Sainsbury's supermarket, doctors surgery and Post Office. Ticknall enjoys three pubs, village shop/ tea room and access to delightful open countryside and the historic Calke Abbey.

Vendor comment 23 years ago, when we purchased Hemsley Barns, we were looking for a home in a rural location where we could bring up our children, who were then 3 and 1. Access to excellent schools, terrific off-road walking/riding/cycling, and a safe garden were important factors but also proximity to the wonderful facilities and community life of Melbourne and Ticknall.

As children grow a family home needs to accommodate changing needs. A safe garden for children to play in gives way to accommodation for teenage sleepovers. When we set up our own business in 1998 office space became an imperative. As we became more involved in the Melbourne community the versatility of the barn meant we could host meetings and fund-raisers as well as entertaining family and friends. Hemsley Barns has proved versatile during all stages of our family's growth at times accommodating three generations under its generous roof. We still love it here but this is a home that now needs a new family. Whoever that is we hope they will enjoy the space, light, versatility and outdoors that have given us such joy over such a long time.
