Property Description

If you are looking for a ‘forever home’ with flexible and versatile accommodation that’s set in an idyllic village, with views that the Welsh Tourist Board boast of, yet just a few minutes from Mold with all the facilities you could want or need, oh & a double garage…….This really is the NewHome4U

Come to our office for free Independent mortgage advice or just email or even ‘call': Do you like the photos? Well may be you would you like to view this home personally…..The good thing about NewHome4U is, we open 7 days a week and we’re physically in the office 4U just so that you can, ‘’like no other estate agent in Mold’

On the hillside above Mold sits Nercwys, commanding outstanding views down towards the town and across the sheep speckled fields. Alright, it’s not Wordsworth but we are only estate agents….
That is not however, to denigrate Nercwys which is indeed delightful, and made even more so by the spring sunshine which greeted me this morning. What has this got to do with this bungalow you ask? More than you think, because a real home must offer more than bricks and mortar. Without a soul it will never make you happy and soul is something this home has in bucket loads.

Originally built as a tiny cottage almost a century ago it has, over the years grown, being altered and extended by various owners to suite their own particular needs as families grow and change. In this, it’s most recent incarnation, it has become a three bedroom bungalow with a large separate dining room, utility room, huge double garage and stunning and varied gardens, with a wooden summer house from which to survey your kingdom. Sounds impressive huh……well, we’ve only just started.

We approach the home down a broad gravel drive with flowering shrubs to either side, which widens further to allow vehicles to turn and continues towards the twin doors of the double garage. A small flagged area of patio lies to the front of the home, where a covered veranda offers protection from the weather for the fully glazed wooden front door.

Entering the home into the square hallway, on our right we find the lounge. A warm and welcoming room, lit from two sides by a large picture window to the front, overlooking the entrance drive, while the other side features a set of sliding patio doors looking out across (unsurprisingly) a large patio! From here, its raised position allows tremendous views over the garden and the hillside beyond. One wall of this room features a low brick fireplace which continues 70s style, along the length of the wall and contains a welcoming living flame gas fire. Needless to say this is as much eye-candy as anything else, as the oil fired central heating takes care of warming this home, but who wants to stare at a radiator on a chilly evening, a real flame or even a fake flame is so much cosier. As I said earlier, a home needs soul.

Returning to the hall, the other side of the front door reveals the formal dining room. This is an excellent size and easily earns the epithet ‘formal’ dining room. Accommodating as it does, a full sized table and accompanying sideboard along with other free standing items of furniture, while allowing for the butler to pass along without embarrassing spillages (please note the ‘butler’ is not included in the purchase price). The room also features a sliding patio door keeping it very light and even allowing a taste of almost al fresco dining should the weather permit.

Next to here is the kitchen. Featuring a contrasting ceramic floor to the one found in the hall, this is on first impression not as large as expected. But that is before you realise that through the far door is a utility room housing all the noisier of the necessary machines that make our lives run smoothly. This also contains the oil fired central heating boiler, again minimising the noise factor in the kitchen. The kitchen units are, to be kind, not in the first flush of youth but when installed were of such quality that they have stood the test of time. Indeed it is only their dark wood surfaces and lack of shiny chrome that gives away their age. Thus any alterations that a new owner may wish to see, will be more a matter of taste than of necessity.

Another door from here reveals the convenient second cloakroom, convenient for use by anyone labouring in the extensive gardens as well as the home itself.

From the hall we enter the inner hall where to the immediate left we find the bathroom. This is quite a narrow room, tiled to half height and featuring a pedestal hand basin, lavatory and bath. I was a little disappointed not to see a shower unit of any kind above the bath, until I looked behind the door. Here is not only a large airing and linen cupboard but also a splendid walk in shower cubicle with a mains water fed power shower.

Opposite here is the first of the bedrooms. This is a comfortably sized double room, made all the more useable by the one complete wall of fitted wardrobes, with a mirrored panel accentuating the room’s already generous dimensions. The aspect of this room that will remain in the mind however is the view. From the home’s slightly elevated position we look down over the lawns and the wooden summer house to the fields beyond and it is a view almost worth being poorly in bed to be able to enjoy it all day.

Adjacent to here is the master bedroom, where we find more of the same but merely on a slightly larger scale. Here, two separate picture windows capitalise on the same view and, with a similar array of fitted wardrobes allowing the easy accommodation of free standing furniture, this makes for a very luxurious room.

Opposite here is the final bedroom. This, rather like the bathroom is quite narrow or so it appears but only because it is so long by comparison. Currently in use as an office/library/hobby room it has in the past seen use as a bedroom, in which role it has proved able to adapt easily into a room not only to sleep in but to study and work in with equal aplomb.

All in all this home is special. It has evolved over the years in an almost organic way, catering to the needs of the various owners and while its current form and layout may be thought a little unusual, it works, and works well. Its location will always be its principal selling point but it is no use having a perfect location if you are not happy in the home. Here I cannot see anyone failing to be happy with the home itself, for its versatility, its space, its character and atmosphere. As I said earlier, a home is so much more than merely bricks and mortar, it is a feeling. To me, this one feels like a real home.
