History

Historically this exquisite property was the operational granary for Long Marston Hall. Oliver Cromwell and his
Roundhead generals are said to have used the imposing hall as their military headquarters in July 1644. They
subsequently defeated the Royalists troops at the Battle of Marston Moor, the largest battle ever fought on English
soil. Its place in England’s history is so significant that the Sealed Knot society of Civil War reenactment enthusiasts
marches past the hall every July on the anniversary of the Battle of Marston Moor.

The former granary was converted into this stunning five bedroom property in 1987, for which it received a
prestigious design award from the Council of the Borough of Harrogate. It has recently been upgraded to an
exceptionally high quality specification throughout by the current owners.
