The majority of the main house had to be stripped right back and virtually started from scratch, but it retains a number of really lovely period features which have been restored and enhanced, so it's still a very characterful home. The rooms are all nicely proportioned, but one of the most impressive has to be the main living room. It's double height with a beautiful vaulted ceiling, so it has a tremendous feeling of space, and it features a lot of wood panelling, some of which is ornately carved, and a lovely big open fire that creates such a cosy atmosphere. The house has been up to modern standards, but it's still very much a charming period home, and although the majority of the work has been finished, the kitchen has been left as a blank canvass so that the new owners can put their own stamp on it.

We bought the property just last year, and it was its sheer potential that attracted us to it. It was in a very sorry state when we first came to view it, but the minute we saw it we fell in love with it and this very pretty setting. My husband is a builder and so we knew that with a bit of hard work and imagination it could be transformed into a lovely home, and that's exactly what we've done.
The garden was the previous owner's pride and joy and so it's very mature and exceptionally pretty. There's a lovely big patio terrace, an open lawn and an array of different shrubs, trees and some beautiful specimen roses – hence the name of the house – and because the boundary is so lush and green, it's a very private feeling space. It's also very peaceful here; in fact when you sit out in the garden it's so lovely that it's hard to believe we're just a hop, skip and a jump from town.
It's totally idyllic and i've no doubt its new owners will love it every bit as much as we do.
