Heald house history Above the entrance porch there is a plaque that states 'S.A.M. 1706'. This shows when the original dwelling was renovated and remodelled for Andrew and Mary Stone whose father was the vicar of Leyland from 1689-1712. There are elements within the house including staircases, oak panelling and some of the decorative woodwork which are reclaimed from ships, including Lord Nelson's flagship 'The Foudroyant'. In early Victorian days, the house was used as a girls' boarding school. Moving into the 1900's, Mr George Gregson, who was land agent for the Derby estate for 35 years oversaw a two storey extension of bay windows.
