The Area

Moor House has evolved from a couple of large cottages with origins dating back over 300 years. They have been combined into one significant property. Moor House sits within the centre of Heath, in a cluster of what we suspect may be the original buildings of the settlement.

Since it’s origin, the village has grown very slightly and been populated with some spectacular Georgian architecture which forms the backdrop and view from Moor House.

There are two driveways, a formal one to the front which leads up a gravel drive to the parking area in front of the garage block, and one to the rear which runs alongside the garages. The garage block used to be a traditional coach house with a stable and this could be re-instated if you prefer four legs to four wheels. If you love a stroll with your hound, there are few places more convenient, simply walk out of the door and throw a ball over the large open greens.

Ground Floor

The front door belies the true age of Moor House. It opens into an impressive hallway with a sturdy oak staircase rising to the first floor beneath a dentilled ceiling. The arched window on the upper landing mirrors archways leading off to each side landing.

There is an under-stair coat cupboard and doors lead to the family and formal living rooms. Go straight ahead towards the cloakroom which has a traditional loo and basin along with a neat laundry cupboard and a tasteful terracotta and mosaic tiled floor.

The inner hall continues into the beautiful orangery which has a door to the family living room and the kitchen. This versatile space has a ceiling atrium along with full height windows and doors looking into the inner courtyard, combining light, views and privacy. The study connects to the family sitting room. This charming room has shutters, some particularly intricate cornices and sconces either side of the coal effect gas fire. Doors lead to the Orangery and the front hall.

Walk across the hall into the formal reception room, a great space which encompasses the original part of Moor House which was extended and embellished to create an impressive space to show art. The combination of a lower height dining area and grand sitting room makes a great space to entertain. This impressive room also lends itself equally well to being a large, casual, everyday space where you can have a combined sitting and media room. The end wall, originally set for large canvases, is the perfect place for a home cinema screen.

First Floor

Back to the central hall, up the great staircase and onto the landings. Turn left, through a substantial archway and onto the principal landing.

At the far end of the hallway you have the master suite. The elegant bedroom is comfortably proportioned with windows to two sides, providing inspirational views over the heath. There is a dressing room and a stylish Travertine lined en suite with a large open shower and a traditional suite.
