“It was literally a barn in a field when we bought it, ” they say. “We put in the drive and planted the trees along it so that there is now a lovely entrance to the house across our land. The drive comes in on the left of the property: To a large parking and turning area that includes a double garage and attached double car port. Our favourite room is the dining room, which is a lovely warm room, looking out over garden views and giving access to the front garden through double doors. This room leads into the drawing room through double doors. The drawing room has exposed beams, a huge inglenook fireplace with a wood burning stove, and is a brilliant entertaining space, with plenty of height for a tall Christmas tree and so has been the scene of many happy family occasions. There is a door leading out to the garden and terrace from this room. The kitchen is a proper country kitchen with cream units and is a light room, leading out on to the sun terrace at the back.”

“On the first floor a galleried landing leads to the master bedroom with en suite bathroom and a large walk-in wardrobe. There are three further bedrooms and a family bathroom and a study/nursery that overlooks the grounds to the front.”

“The formal gardens of mature shrubs and lawns, as well as sun terraces to the front and back are enclosed within a natural stone wall. There is a small copse beyond the courtyard with apple trees, a pear and a plum tree and a natural pond. There are bluebells and primroses and it is very pretty. We allow friends to use the pasture for grazing for their horses, and it is lovely to see them from the house.”

They continue: “Colerne is 1.6 miles away, a very friendly and welcoming village. There are two pubs serving good food, a local shop, newsagent, hairdresser, cosy cafe, lovely church, Saturday market, and a Post Office. There are many events throughout the year and an active church community. There is a local playgroup and a village primary school, rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted. The village also has a football and rugby club with a large mini section for kids playing both sports.”

“The nearest excellent restaurant is at Lucknam Park, 0.4 miles away from our drive for fine dining at Michelin Star Restaurant Hywel Jones. The White Hart at Ford and the Catherine Wheel at Marshfield are good pubs with food as well. There are good road links with the M4 nearby, as well as train stations at Bath, 8.6 miles, or Chippenham, 9.1 miles and a service to London in 1 hour and 11 minutes.”
