Description
Cyclamen Lodge is a very well presented detached family home with a lovely mature garden, on a generous plot of half an acre. Peaceful and private, the house has a southerly aspect and is well screened from its neighbours. A five-bar wooden gate and gravelled driveway leads to a sweep opposite the front door, with parking for several cars. The front door opens into a formal entrance hall with cloakroom off, flanked by the sitting room and snug on one side and on the other by the well appointed kitchen/breakfast room (with walk in pantry and utility room off) which opens to a spectacular large garden room, used all the year round - great for entertaining. At the first floor are the master bedroom and guest bedrooms with en-suite shower rooms, 3 further double bedrooms (one currently used as an office) and a further shower room. In addition there is an excellent ground floor studio/gym (external access). Cyclamen Lodge is set at the back of its plot in an ideal position from which to admire the grounds. These comprise level lawns, a sunken garden, different areas to sit out and a vegetable garden. There is a summer house and a substantial garden shed.
Location
Private Road at Rodborough is one of the most prestigious addresses around Stroud. An exclusive collection of homes on either side of a leafy tree lined road which terminates at a gate onto the Common. Set high up on the hills above Stroud, this is a spectacular location with dramatic views which can best be appreciated from the Common itself, part of 650 acres of natural countryside in the care of the National Trust and free for anyone to roam and enjoy - great for dog walkers! Historic Minchinhampton with good local services is nearby, as is the popular market town of Nailsworth, in the valley below. Stroud with its main line station (London Paddington from 90 minutes) also has a large Waitrose, three other supermarkets, an award winning Farmers' Market, multiplex cinema and a popular provincial theatre. There are excellent schools for all ages in the locality (both state and private), three challenging golf courses and numerous places to eat out. London is normally within 2 hours drive and access to the motorway system straightforward, especially the M5 at junction 13 (Stroud) for Bristol or the West Midlands.
Directions
From our Stroud Office proceed west on London Road and turn right onto Dr Newton's Way by Waitrose. At the junction with the A46, turn left and then the first left again up Rodborough Hill (immediately prior to the Clothiers Public House). Continue up onto the Common and the entrance to the Private Road is on the right, shortly after the turning to The Hithe, marked by stone pillars. The entrance to the driveway (flanked by stone pillars) is the second on the right.
General Information
The owners of Cyclamen Lodge have an obligation to the Private Road Management Company of about £110 pa.
