Opened in March 2012, the award-winning Jerwood Gallery sits next to the fishing beach in Hastings' historic Old Town. Home to a revolving selection of the Jerwood Collection's twentieth- and twenty-first century art, it also holds several major exhibitions a year, showcasing the best of modern art: Recently Picasso's work from Lee Miller's nearby Farley Farm House and celebrated figurative artist Paula Rego's first major British exhibition in ten years were shown there.

The Coastal Cultural Trail, which you can walk or bike, links the Jerwood to two acclaimed galleries, Bexhill's De La Warr Pavilion and Eastbourne's Towner Art Gallery.

There are many other attractions in Hastings and St Leonards-on-Sea, both architectural and cultural. The fantastic Hastings Pier (recently named Pier of the Year and winner of the highly prestigious riba Stirling Prize) hosts numerous live gigs and shows; it is an iconic place to visit, Jimi Hendrix, Pink Floyd and The Clash having played there.
