History and Character
Research done by a previous owner discovered that there was a family living in Walden Manor as early as 1550, after which the property passed between the Mannings of Kevington and the Hart Dykes of East Hall. Towards the end of the 19th century the house became famous as the property of William Cook, the poultry breeder who developed the Buff Orpington, the humble bird which made Orpington known throughout the world. To enhance the image of his business, he renamed the house Orpington House. However, in 1937 a subsequent owner made the decision to revert back to its original name, Walden Manor.

The property has a wealth of interesting features including some original window shutters, a King Post in the kitchen, historic beams from a ship and a prison door said to be from Borough Green prison dating back to the Napoleonic wars to name a few. This house has a certain charm that cannot be recreated in modern builds; each room has its own story and history and must be viewed to be truly appreciated.

Viewings at your earliest convenience are highly recommended.
