The Property
If you're looking to move to the country, have a property with stunning views, a pub within a short walk and a super garden to be enjoyed but not slaved over, then this fabulous property is the one for you. Located just four miles from the much sought after town of Church Stretton, in the popular village of Wall Under Heywood, you will find Hillside View....And what a find it is.
Front and side, there's a useful porch to kick off your boots in after a muddy walk through the picturesque local countryside. If it's been a chilly walk on a crisp autumnal day you've got a cosy wood burner to warm up in front of in the lounge. Or maybe it's a glorious summer's day and you'll be dining alfresco on the patio, while drinking in the view (and maybe a chilled glass of Bordeaux) Alternatively it might be Christmas and you're hosting the family in the kitchen diner, turkey, happy children and all the trimmings and festivities you could wish for. Whatever the occasion and whatever the time of year, you'll be able to enjoy it all at Hillside View. If you're after a little touch of luxury we've got you covered there too, did we mention the master bedroom with, not only fabulous views, not only an en-suite shower room, but also a great dressing room, or study, however you use it is up to you! Storage is no concern either, you'll find an airing cupboard in the recently refitted bathroom, built-in double wardrobes in all of the bedrooms, the loft space and of course the garage, providing you're not one of those people that actually keeps a car in there.
Outside, you'll find a lovely pretty garden with a cracking workshop. The garden is a nice size, not overwhelming but plenty of space to enjoy, relax, or keep yourself busy, all while taking in the cracking view. On a practical note, there's also vehicular access to the rear garden too.
All in all it's hard to fault Hillside View, it's a great property which is sure to make a wonderful home for the next lucky owners!
The Location
Wall under Heywood is a small and very pretty country village lying within an area of outstanding natural beauty adjacent to the Wenlock Edge countryside. It lies in the parish to St Peter's Church, which is found about half a mile away in the village of Rushbury. The village has a strong community spirit which is brought together by the local amenities such as the village hall and public house, as well as the nearby primary school at Rushbury, which is rated 'outstanding' by Ofsted.
Set against the scenic backdrop of the Shropshire Hills, Church Stretton is a small market town with a population of around 4500. The town is also fondly referred to as 'Little Switzerland', you will understand exactly why from the second you start to get closer as you drive down the A49 into Church Stretton. Day or night you will be mesmerized by the beauty of the South Shropshire hillside as it gradually appears with its ominous splendour. If it is night time the twinkle of little houses nestled in the hills, with billowing smoke from the chimneys, will have you curious with whom might be living there and make you wish you were sitting next to the open fire looking out over the hillside. If it is during the day, you may catch sight of some hardy hikers scaling the top of Caradoc, The Ragleth, or the Longmynd, or perhaps a daring mountain biker will be catapulting down the fast array of mountain bike routes that makes this part of the world so desirable for bikers and hikers alike. Church Stretton has direct access to over 20 square miles of National Trust land. It is a haven for many who love the outdoors, paragliding, gliders, fell runners, photographers, artists, all flock to experience their love of the outdoors and capture it how they know best in this wondrous town. Perhaps this is all a little too energetic for you? Maybe if we come down from the hills you can have a leisurely stroll through the beautiful Rectory woods, and enjoy the stunning bluebells which have been photographed time and time again in all their glory creating magical pieces of art. All of which can be bought as a memorable keepsake in the form of postcards, greetings cards, pictures and photos from the National Trust shop, or in some of the shops in the town centre. Boasting many award winning coffee shops, quintessentially English tea rooms, cafes, restaurants, bars and public houses. Quaint little shops selling anything from brick-a-brac, to flowers, sweets, handmade chocolates, ice cream, vintage clothing, gifts, jewellery and so much more. On a more practical level, you also have some fantastic day to day facilities. A doctor’s surgery, 2 dentists, a leisure centre with swimming pool, a Primary and Secondary school, a library, tourist information centre, garages, petrol station, Co-op Supermarket, Family Shopper Convenience store, a bank, takeaways, and many other local businesses, independent stores, diy shops and kitchen facilities. There are various bus routes taking you to surrounding towns and villages meaning you are as connected as you can be, not to mention the train station with direct routes into Shrewsbury and Ludlow.
