A beautifully presented 5 bedroom family home that is part of a thriving co-housing community of 20 years standing. The house has ample space, including a utility room, a bathroom, and two shower rooms. There are wall to floor built in shelves in the kitchen and sitting room. We have recently re-painted throughout and the wooden floors have been refurbished.
The house is Leasehold, and the purchaser becomes a Director of the company The Community Project Ltd, which owns the Freehold upon completion. The house shares usage of 24 acres of land, and a Common House which includes a Dining Room, Hall and the potential to lease an office. Whilst maintaining the privacy of individual homes, residents aspire to live co-operatively, informally sharing skills and support, and enjoying each other’s company. The site has a woodchip heating system and its own water supply from a borehole.

Seller’s Comments
We have been very happy living here for 20 years. Our house feels cosy, with it's wood-burning stove and wooden floors. We enjoy lots of sunshine with our south facing aspect. Having two reception rooms downstairs, in addition to the large kitchen diner, meant that some of the family could watch television, whilst others played musical instruments. Our children have left home, so it is time to move on.
Our children enjoyed great freedom to be outdoors when playing. They have had a safe and secure childhood, being part of a community - sharing the walk to school with other families, playing football, climbing trees, and enjoying community celebrations.
We rent two offices on site, and this led to a great work/life balance, with no commuting costs.
Living as part of a community can be challenging, but also exciting and satisfying. An example of how the community works is that I am currently driving someone else's car! We encourage lift-sharing, shared child-care, and socialising. The community has a weekly potluck supper, where people can catch up, and maintenance days where there is a shared lunch. There are no proscribed contributions required, so everyone can find their own way to contribute.
We have found the village of Laughton welcoming and engaging. I sing in a choir here, play in the Ladies Stoolball team, and am a member of the Village Shop Association. There is a thriving cricket club, and annual village events including a summer fete and Christmas Tree lighting
