The Little House is a very peaceful place to live in the heart of Canterbury – we are just minutes away from the city centre and have walks along the river with all its wildlife practically on our doorstep. Being a cul-de-sac means there is no traffic and we have good parking with our permit. The Canterbury schools for all ages are amazing and are easy to access. You can easily live here without a car as everything from picking up supplies to socialising and entertainment is nearby, so we feel this is an amazing location.
2 Duck Lane was built over 150 years ago by a carpenter for his family, next door to his workshop which is now a two-bedroom property. An archeological dig found we are located on the original placement of the Roman Walls, so this is a house with plenty of history.
We love that our home is perfect for the summer and winter. Our courtyard garden has sunshine throughout the day, it is amazing for barbecues and parties, while we have a beautiful snug sitting room called the Red Room with a cosy fire. The large kitchen has dividing doors onto the main living room, so you can be relaxing in there while one of you cooks but still be together in an open space. The rooms are versatile; we have had them set up for different purposes and it makes for a generously-sized family home. There is a lovely atmosphere, with bright living and a perfect flow, it has the feel of a country house in the middle of Canterbury, which makes it totally unique.
This has been a lovely place to live, we are going to miss everything about Canterbury and being able to listen to the cathedral bells from our courtyard.
