Farringdon Road is in the borough of Islington. Clerkenwell, located in Islington is named after the Religious clerks that would hold plays at the well in area. Farringdon Road is thought to be one of the best urban engineering accomplishments of the mid-1800s. It was one of the first multi-lane engineered roads that rerouted an early river system to solve the city’s sewage problems. The last remnants of the river system can be found in Hampstead Heath. Around this area was what was once known as “Little Italy”.
There plenty around in this bustling neighbourhood. Just downstairs on Farringdon Road is the local pub Betsey Trotwood. Next door is a Costa coffee. Down the road is The St Joh Oldcastle and The One Tun.
