Accommodation
On entering The Coach House your attention is immediately drawn to the light and airy nature of the home. This feeling of light and spaciousness continues throughout the property and is accentuated by the warm and pleasant décor and the natural light flooding through the windows.
The views from the Coach House are simply stunning, stretching out over open countryside as far as the eye can see, with rolling hills in the distance and the local Whiston Golf course in the foreground.
The entrance hall is a perfect place to greet family and friends, but is also a functional space, and flows nicely to both the Kitchen/Dining Room and to the Sitting Room.
The Kitchen/Dining room and Sitting room are equally spacious and ideal for entertaining, each having their own character and charm, and both well lit. The Sitting room also feels very cosy with its fire place, which provides a natural focal point.
The Kitchen/Dining room has an open plan layout and is presented to a high standard with a nice balance of contemporary and character features throughout. This leads through to the Garage/Utility room which is ideal for storage.
The first floor is in keeping with the charm and character of the ground floor with 3 generous sized bedrooms maintaining a feeling of light and spaciousness throughout. The master bedroom with its exposed wooden beams give the room much of its character and equally impressive is the discreet but substantial en-suite. There are two further bedrooms with bedroom two also benefitting from ensuite facilities.
Vendor's Insight
This utterly charming Grade II listed converted barn, which boasts far-reaching views across the neighbouring golf course and the glorious surrounding countryside, occupies an enviable location within the peaceful Staffordshire village of Whiston. The property originally dates back to the mid 19th century, but in more recent times it has been stylishly converted into this beautiful home. “We bought the house almost twenty years ago, not long after it had been converted, and as well as its character and charm it was this stunning location that proved to be one of the biggest selling points, ” says the owner. “It’s very peaceful here and the views go on forever, and at night there’s no light pollution so you look up and see a million stars… It really is a place quite unlike any other.”
“The barn is almost two hundred years old, but it’s been very sympathetically converted into this lovely home. It retains features such as exposed beams, timbers and stone that all give hints of its history, but the décor is very stylish and we have more contemporary fixtures and fittings that make the house ideal for modern living; there’s a really good balance between old and new. The rooms are well proportioned and the layout flows nicely, so it’s very comfortable, and there are lots of big windows, some of which are floor to ceiling, so not only is the house very light and bright, but from almost any room we can enjoy those amazing views.”
“The garden is just lovely and has been designed with ease of maintenance in mind, which means we have more time to enjoy it and the fabulous outlook, ” continues the owner. “We have a block paved patio, a raised deck and we’ve planted lots of pretty shrubs and flowers that create a riot of colour during the summer months, and the front of the house is festooned with wisteria, which is just coming into bloom and adds to the overall curb appeal.”
“I really don’t think I could pick a favourite room, ” says the owner. “Each has its own unique character and charm and we enjoy spending time in them all.”
“It’s the peace, tranquility and sheer beauty of our surroundings that make the location so very special, ” says the owner. “We can get to places such as Ashbourne or the pretty market town of Leek in just fifteen to twenty minutes, and still enjoy such a peaceful and idyllic location”.
“The house is Grade II listed because it’s built from stones that were formed using copper slag, ” says the owner. “They are very unusual, very solid and when the sun shines on them you can see the beautiful copper veins running right through them.”
“We’re downsizing one final time, but we’ll be very sad to leave The Coach House, ” says the owner. “It’s been a wonderful home and the location has been heavenly. I’m not sure we’ll be able to find anywhere else quite like it.”
