Vendor's Insight
'We’ve always loved the peace and quiet, as well as the laid-back feel of the valley. When we first viewed Sycamore Farm, we couldn't believe that this secret place existed, and it was like stepping into our own oasis of calm, ' say the vendors.
'We enjoy walking along the river paths and exploring the trails and surrounding area. Milldale showcases a Britain that isn't just housed in beautiful, old mansions and halls, but in local churches and fields too and there are plenty of pubs and restaurants ready to give you a warm welcome. The trails and paths of the White Peak are our extended 'garden' and there are times when we have the valley almost to ourselves. We pack a picnic and climb Baley Hill opposite the house, where we spread our blanket out and toast the setting sun as we soak up the view of this gorgeous valley before us.'
'The front patio overlooks Milldale and the Dove River valley and it’s our favourite location for outside dining, whilst the top patio enjoys spectacular panoramic views and is the perfect spot to relax and curl up in front of the fire pit. The garden is a changing colour pallet throughout the year and is home to wildlife big and small, such as the occasional sheep, hedgehog, squirrels and birdlife aplenty, including the boisterous Milldale ducks and a breeding pair of herons.'
'We have spent most of our happiest moments in the dining room. Doors open out to the patio giving us light and warmth, plus easy access to the outside dining furniture and bbq. It has a real sense of space with the high ceiling and all of our best memories have been of those small (but raucous) parties with friends in this room.'
'We will miss the little things like the fossilised plants embedded in the tiles outside the back door, as well as the peace and tranquillity, and the countryside on our doorstep. We are embarking on a new chapter in our lives and we are moving to be closer to those opportunities, as well as our friends.'
'We enjoy looking up at the bright stars of the Milky Way on a clear evening and it is quite magical when we have been out late and arrive home to this show from the heavens.'
'The front bedroom has a first-floor view over the river. We go to sleep listening to the local owl calling above the gentle tinkle of the river and wake to the sound of the birds.'
'The house and garden are perfect for entertaining and we have loved being able to share this safe and quiet place with friends and family from around the world'.
