Accommodation
A fascinating Grade II listed house built in 1868 by Samuel S Teulon (the architect responsible for St Thomas' Church) in a Victorian Gothic style. Packed with character throughout this period property offers both garden and parking for two cars. No onward chain and within easy reach of the city centre.
The entrance hall has stairs rising to the first floor with an understairs cupboard with varnished floor boards. The sitting room is at the front of the property and again has varnished floor boards and a feature open fireplace with stone surround. To the rear is a dining room with a further open fireplace (with gas point) which overlooks the rear courtyard garden. From the hallway you also reach the kitchen which has a range of soft-close open fronted units with granite work surfaces over with one a half bowl sink unit inset, "Siemens" fan-assisted electric oven and grill with warming tray beneath and an induction hob. There are lots of display shelves throughout the kitchen. An arched door leads into a utility area with gas fired boiler, sink and plumbing for washing machine with a cloakroom off. Also from the kitchen is a staircase leading down to the cellar which is divided into distinct area and providing useful storage or a workshop.
On the first floor the landing has fixed steps leading up to the attic and a laundry cupboard with pluming for washing machine and a shelved linen cupboard with light. Two double bedrooms both have feature fireplaces and the third bedroom has fitted shelving. All of the bedrooms and the landing have varnished floorboards. The bathroom to the rear of the property has a panelled bath with telephone shower and a walk-in shower with electric shower over, wash hand basin and W.C.
The attic has been boarded and has two Velux windows to the rear with lovely views of Wells Cathedral and to Glastonbury Tor beyond. With some work this area could be an excellent double bedroom (subject to the necessary regulations).
Outside
To the front of the property there is a gravelled area of parking for two cars. This leads through to a pretty area of garden with lawn and flower beds.
To the rear is a courtyard garden which has pedestrian access onto a path leading to either end of the terrace.
Location
Set within a conservation area within easy reach of the city centre. Wells is the smallest Cathedral city in England and offers a wide choice of shops and facilities including a particularly good range of schools (both state and private). At the very heart of the city is the medieval Cathedral, Bishop’s Palace and Vicars’ Close (reputed to be the oldest surviving residential street in Europe). Bristol and Bath lie c. 22 miles to the north and north-east respectively with mainline train stations to London at Castle Cary (c.11 miles) as well as Bristol and Bath. Bristol International Airport is c.15 miles to the north-west. Of particular note is the variety of well-regarded schools in both the state and private sectors in Wells and the surrounding area.
Directions
From Wells city centre follow signs for The Horringtons B3139 into St Thomas Street. Just after St Thomas Church on the right turn left into North Road and St Thomas Terrace can be found immediately on the left hand side.
