Property Description
Luxury Houseboat, new-build replica Dutch barge for sale.
A berth is currently available in Tollesbury Essex with mains electricity laid on.
Stunning houseboat and well equipped cruising barge with beautiful Norwegian 'Blue Pearl' granite worktops, quality oak joinery and a wonderful wood burning stove. Comfortable, cosy and stylish with stunning views and beautiful surroundings; a super way of life.
Launched just 8 years ago, this luxury barge is both a great home and a competent seagoing cruising vessel with a new 90hp diesel engine, bow thruster and navigation equipment.
This barge has been a wonderful cosy home for us in the most beautiful spot and part of a lively village with shops, pub, restaurant, cafe, doctor, chemist and loads of clubs and associations plus of course sailing, walking, bird watching and more.
This barge is designed for two people to live aboard full time in considerable comfort, plus occasional guests, perhaps on a sofa bed in the saloon, or in the wheelhouse where the bench seat can be converted into a double bed.
The Bedroom (4.2m X 3.6m max) has a comfortable, oak framed king size bed with storage below, oak cupboards/worktops, full length mirrored oak wardrobes, solid oak wall cladding, low energy lighting, a 3kw room sealed Wallas oil heater and 240 volt power sockets.
The fully tiled bathroom is equipped with an industry leading Techma Silence flushing toilet, fitted on super-yachts worldwide, a full size bath/shower and ceramic hand basin, pressurised hot and cold water, an extractor fan, low energy lighting, storage cupboards and a 1.3kw room sealed Wallas oil heater.
The kitchen is well equipped with oak cabinets, superb, thick Norwegian 'Blue Pearl' granite worktops, gas hob and built-in oven, extractor fan, fridge, freezer, a dedicated filtered water tap, pressurised hot and cold water, low energy lighting and 240 volt power sockets.
The saloon (6.1m X 3.6m max) is wonderfully bright with large windows and portholes and a huge roof light, all opening and fully double glazed. The double glazing, together with 50mm of spray-foam insulation applied to the steel shell make the interior warm in the winter with minimal heating, but cool and comfortable in the hottest of summers. The saloon also comes complete with two recliner armchairs, a 3kw Wallas room-sealed oil heater, low energy lighting, 240 volt power sockets and a 'Morso Squirrel' multifuel/woodburner stove which is a fabulous addition to the saloon, making the entire barge cosy and warm.
Electrical power is stored in 6 Rolls, industrial deep cycle batteries, charged by 4 solar panels that cover the wheelhouse roof. The barge is also equipped with a diesel generator, but in our experience, it has only ever been necessary to use this a few times in an average year. When you are cruising, the main engine has two large alternators that will very quickly top up the batteries. Ample electricity is therefore always available.
240v ac (mains voltage) is supplied throughout the barge from either shore power when available, or from the ships batteries via the Victron inverter.
Hot water is supplied by a Morco gas instantaneous water heater in the winter, or free of charge by using the immersion heater and surplus power generated by the solar panels in the summer. If you go cruising, the main engine will also supply plenty of hot water. Piping hot water is always available.
The 10 foot long double glazed wheelhouse is fully collapsible and has windows all round for uninterrupted 360 degree views. It can seat 8 people making a huge area for socialising, dining and enjoying the scenery.

The barge's home berth is in Tollesbury, Essex, and a video clip of the surroundings can be viewed by searching YouTube for what tollesbury is all about just look for the green barge as the drone approaches the red lightship.
Her delightful and secure berth, where we have been so happy, may be transferable to a new owner subject to interview for just £187.50 per month.
If you have a decent deposit, a typical marine mortgage of £130,000 over 14 years would cost around £1,100 per month: Less than renting a one bed riverside flat of a similar quality, and the barge will be all yours.
