Heath
Heath (Welsh: Y Mynydd Bychan) is a community in the north of Cardiff, capital of Wales, originally called the Great Heath and named as a result of the large park and woodland that it once contained. The population of the ward taken at the 2011 census was 12,629.[1] After the initial development of traditionally middle-classed semi-detached housing (1920's-1950's) and more recently the construction of the University Hospital of Wales on the site of the former Heath Wood (1960's), much of the greenery has been eradicated. Heath Park forms the remainder of this grass and woodland and is very popular, having attractions such as a miniature steam railway and sports facilities. It should be distinguished from the Little Heath (Welsh: Y Waun Ddyfal) which lies to the south of the Great Heath, in the vicinity of Crwys Road. Birchgrove is a busy shopping area that is part of the ward of Heath. The area around the University Hospital of Wales has been known as Saints Corner, due to the number of streets in the area named after well-known saints.

Location
The area is served by two railway stations. Heath Low Level is on the Coryton Line, linking Central and Coryton stations. Heath High Level is on the Rhymney Line, linking Central and Rhymney stations via Llanishen, Lisvane, Thornhill and Caerphilly. The Bus services are so plentiful. The Bay Circle covers a vast area, and the hospital caters for both the number 1 and 2, clockwise and anti-clockwise. While the number 8 and 9/9A operates from the City Centre to ikea and Cardiff Bay,
including the Sports Village. There is also the 95 which goes to Barry Island via Dinas Powys and City Centre The 64 and 65 goes to town, and Canton/ and St.Mellons. Ysgol Glantaf has a bus that runs the length of Allensbank Road.

Amenities
Local schools include Allensbank Primary School, Cathays High School, Cardiff High school, Gladstone School, Ysgol Mynydd Bychan (Located on New Zealand Road off Whitchurch Road) the Welsh Primary School, Ton-Yr-Ywen Primary School, and Llanishen High School. There is an extensive range of local shops, Restaurants, Takeaways, Coffee shops and Sandwich Bars along both Crwys road and Whitchurch road, including a Boots the Chemist and a Post office. Some notable restaurants include the award winning Mint and Mustard, but there are many other lovely local restaurants all within walking distance. Within the Heath Hospital there is also a Boots and a Chemist. The University Campus on Western Avenue is close, and other amenities include a Sainsburys, dentists and vets, a Co- Op, the St Joeseph's Catholic Church. Only a short walk away
is the lovely Heath Park, whilst the Eastern Avenue, the A 470 and the M4 are all within easy driving distance approached from Manor Way.
