Trunk House History

A house of local historical interest, Trunk House is a Georgian property (circa 1825) which originally was the main residence of Trunk Farm Estate. The estate comprised of approximately 270 acres of pasture, arable and meadow lands and stretched as far as West Heath to Southwood.

At the turn of the twentieth century, several high-ranking Army personnel made it their home; the most notable being Lord and Lady Douglas Haig. Trunk House was also home to Lionel Bootle-Wilbraham (Sixth Baron of Skelmersdale) and his family, who lived at the house for almost 30 years, up until 1974.

Trunk House has since been separated into two properties, both of which still retain period features and described within several historical books of Farnborough.
