All too often when writing these descriptions, I am faced with the difficulty of describing a home that is simply ordinary, without any remarkable features to set it apart from the crowd…..Whereas this little jewel gives me a whole new problem; how to describe it without sounding as if I am exaggerating, because it truly is stunning. Its convenient position on the outskirts of Buckley, within walking distance of both primary and secondary schools make this an excellent family home before we even begin to delve into its other attributes.

Separated from the pavement of the very popular Church Road location in Buckley, there’s an immaculately laid out and maintenance free front garden, given over to slate chippings with a pretty raised bed and accompanying shrubs in large pots, we find the semi glazed wooden front door.

Opening this allows us into the hallway, with its unusual but attractive and practical vinyl floor covering and from whereto the right, is the carpeted lounge. This is a delightful room which welcomes you in like putting on a favourite jumper. It is a room where the cares of the day ebb away, allowing you to relax in its warmth. The focal point of one wall is a lovely Victorian fireplace bordered by white tiles with flower motifs. In the centre of this is a living flame gas fire, although this is currently disconnected for the safety of the toddlers living here. Needless to say, reconnection is a simple matter although the gas combi powered central heating makes this a matter of choice rather than necessity.

Adjacent to here is the rear facing dining room with its very high quality wood laminate floor. This large room is appointed in a way that would to justice to the front window of John Lewis; quirky, interesting but above all, tasteful. A lovely touch is the insertion of a stack of real logs into a decorative fireplace as a very novel and pretty centrepiece. As for the rest of the room, a useful half height cupboard occupies the natural recess to the right of the chimney breast providing both a shelf and storage. The rear wall of this room has a sizeable window, overlooking the charming rear patio and garden, but more of this later.

Another door opens into the classily appointed kitchen with its dark grey ceramic tiled floor. Although not huge this is so well thought out as to belie its size. Immediately to the left is a sliding door concealing the under-stair storage, housing not only the household equipment that is awkward to house in any small home but also a good old fashioned pantry. The body of the room is laid out in a ‘U’ shape, making it easy to work in, its attractive and almost new looking units and work surfaces containing all the storage space you could need and a tall fridge freezer, electric cooker and washing machine. Don’t panic, there is a tumble drier, just not in here.

To the side there is a very attractive stable type door opening into the rear yard. When I say yard, I really mean a whole lot more, this being the first of the features that set this home apart from the others in this price bracket!

An immaculately flagged passage leads past the kitchen, where it broadens out beneath a large pergola making a rain-proof sitting area with its glass roof. A door from here reveals a tongue and groove lined store room/workshop which also houses the tumble drier, venting to the outside. This patio is a true haven of peace and quiet and with a chiminea for when the evenings grow cooler. It is very comfortably furnished and available for use in all weathers making it a very special addition to the home.
A step down takes you into the delightful south facing lawned garden, where a gravelled seating area takes advantage of the sun’s dying rays and offers an alfresco alternative to dining under the pergola. So it’s got a unique garden but don’t think that is the end of the good news…. Climbing the stairs we find ourselves approaching the rear facing spacious bathroom, featuring a high quality and waterproof dark wood laminate floor. A stylish vertical radiator keeps the room cosy while in the corner is a shower cubicle, where the tiles run right up to the ceiling. This contains a power shower with the mains pressure water feeding directly from the central heating boiler. This is a bath for relaxation as much as hygiene, as it seems to cry out for scented candles, a chilled bottle of Chablis and a good book. If that fails to wash away the cares of the day, I don’t know what will. In the corner of the room is a large airing cupboard, which also houses the recently renewed gas combi boiler.

Adjacent to here and overlooking the rear garden is the first bedroom, where this lovely home continues to surprise. At odds with the outside appearance of the home, what you would expect to be the small bedroom is in fact a full sized double room which, with its attractive wood laminate flooring and south facing aspect is kept bright and airy.

The landing contains a large walk-in linen cupboard providing generous storage before we find the master bedroom. As with the previous bedroom, this is far larger than outward appearances would have you believe possible. Stretching the full width of the home including running above the hall, this is simply a big room. To demonstrate this, it currently accommodates two large wardrobes, two chest of drawers, a large free standing dressing mirror, two bedside cabinets and a king sized bed. If this makes the room sound crowded, nothing could be further from the truth as there remains floor space a-plenty.

Back along the landing, we find the home’s final surprise; another staircase. This leads up to the fully fitted attic room, a large space that could be put to any use that took your fancy and kept beautifully bright by the roof mounted velux window. This faces directly towards Moel Fammau where the sun sets, so its outlook could scarcely be bettered and forms the crowning glory of this remarkable home.
