Property Description
A handsome two bedroom half-house, set over two floors, sits moments from the urban hubbub of Green Lanes. Considerately designed by its architect-owners and refurbished back to the core, there is style-a-plenty in this perfectly bijou two up, two down.
Found on the doorstep of Turnpike Lane tube, you could hardly be better placed to set up home than in this vibrant North London pocket. There are a number of coveted primary schools nearby too, not to mention the wonderful bars, cafes and restaurants of Green Lanes which are minutes away on foot.
Brickworks Says
A few things stand out for us, but perhaps the first mention should go to the green, wood panelled bathroom with luxurious roll top bath, old-fashioned Singer sewing machine table and polished, wooden gymnasium floor.
There are other special details that imbue the house with charm and quirk too, such as the old column radiators, and the unusual 'open', painted staircase. And as a brilliant counter-point, the kitchen is new, modern and sleek with wonderful lighting and dark slate floor.
The Owners Say
We fell in love with this house as soon as we saw it from the street – the striking two-storey bay window with its black turret roof, original windows and beautiful brickwork; and the tall tree with delicate yellow flowers at the front.
Inside, the morning sun makes the bay windows at the front a great place to sit. We love how the tree in the front garden brings life to our front room and bedroom and we spend time with our son watching the birds who visit it.
We have lived here before & after having children and the area really offers plenty for everyone. We have been very fortunate to have found a home with such great neighbours and the friendly community surrounding it.
Points To Consider
The EPC gives a current Energy Efficiency Rating: D & Environmental Impact Rating: D
Part of the borough of Haringey, the house falls into Council Tax band C (£1,086.78 for 2018-2019)
The loft space is large and ready for a suitably fantastic conversion; turning an already brilliant space into a larger three bedroom home. Subject to the usual planning consents.
The two local primary schools are both coveted: West Green Primary has a burgeoning reputation, while Chestnuts is long established.
The concept of a Half-House is not widely known, but they are popular in these parts and a brilliant idea from Victorian yesteryear. In essence, you share a front door and corridor with your neighbours (left or right), but once you step foot inside, the layout is very similar to a traditional Victorian ‘two-up, two-down'.
