We have been so happy living in Stanhope Gardens for the last eleven years. We did a lot of work to the house when we moved in, restoring some of the lovely original features, creating a light and open living room and extending the house to make a fantastic bright kitchen/dining room overlooking the garden. The work we have done has made the kitchen the heart of the house and we love to have all the family around the big dining table while we cook and chat. In the summer, when the bifold doors are open, the house and the garden feel like one big room, especially when we spill out on to the patio right outside. More recently, we've really grown into the house by adding a two-room loft extension which has given us a beautiful large master bedroom with an en-suite shower room and the luxury of using a room as our dressing room.

We have lived in the Harringay area for 23 years and have seen it change dramatically over that time. There are still lots of independent shops such as Baldwin's Butchers and Yasar Halim for brilliant groceries, but nowadays there are also lots of great bars and restaurants of all kinds, . The Turkish restaurants are fantastic, and renowned across London (our favourite is Antepliler) but now you can also get great burgers at Bun & Bar, Vietnamese at Ha Noi Pho and delicious Sri Lankan food at the new Yaalu Yalu. There are lots of options for good coffee and we love The Salisbury with its wonderful original Victorian interior and great beers.

We're big fans of Finsbury Park, which is a lovely green space only a few minutes walk away. A favourite Sunday activity is a walk along the Parkland Walk, or up to the café at the new wildlife conservation area at Woodberry Wetlands. We also feel really well served with public transport - we can be in the centre of London in 35 minutes – which makes enjoying the city very easy.

But one of our favourite things about the area is the great community. We love taking part in the parkrun in Finsbury Park on Saturday mornings. We really appreciate the active Gardens resident's group, which organises family fun days, runs our award-winning community garden and creates green and flowery planters on our street corners. While we don't have kids ourselves, we hear very good lthings about the local schools and there are also loads of things going on for families, including Railway Fields nature reserve and monthly Play Streets event in the next Gardens road over. People here are really friendly and welcoming and we will have very fond memories of our time in the Gardens "
