Property Description

A house that's loved will always be a home, welcome to 2 Gannel Drive

Life has a way of forcing change, even if decisions leave us torn. The current owners of 2 Gannel Drive were wowed the minute they walked through the door. The moment we walked into the house we knew we had found something special, the owners told me. One thing that strikes you when talking to the owners is just how much they love this house.

So why move?
A very special bundle.

The birth of their daughter has led to the desire to move closer to family, and a change in job means they would have an easier commute to work. Not that the location of this house isn't fantastic. You have excellent links to the motorway with easy access to both Edinburgh and Glasgow. In fact, it was the location of this home that first attracted the owners to the area. We had been looking for a new-build home with links to Edinburgh and this area was perfect. There is a primary school with a good reputation just up the hill, too.

Being on the corner of the drive, as you would imagine the plot is spacious. A lot of the new-build properties we had viewed had smaller room sizes, especially in the bedrooms. But all of the bedrooms are a great size. With five bedrooms to choose from over three floors of this townhouse-style home, there are plenty of possibilities. Two of the bedrooms on the first floor are en-suite, and this floor is also where you will find the family bathroom. Should you manage to fill all this space, you'll also have a double garage to play with.

What about the location?
Maddiston has a long history that dates back to as early as 1424. Coal is a huge part of the area's heritage, with mining in the parish recorded as far back as 1501. The industry sadly declined after the Second World War.

Today there is a vibrant, warm and welcoming community. The local community council strives to bring about positive changes for all who live there, from providing free helmets and booster seats to all the children at Maddiston Primary School, to organising nature events such as bird and badger watching. Many of our neighbours have younger children. They are all lovely and have been a great support since our daughter was born.

It is no wonder families are attracted to this beautiful development of new-build homes within a popular growing community. The owners regularly visit Muiravonside Country Park, a short distance away. With its 170 stunning acres of park and woodland, which includes a sculpture trail, play areas and a farm, it's unsurprisingly a popular destination for people of all ages.

Favourite spaces
If I had to choose a favourite space I would say it's the kitchen. Now that's not because I like to cook, but the dual aspect windows let in so much light. I like to sit here and just look out into the garden.

But if you asked my husband he would always say the top floor. One of the bedrooms runs from the front to back of the house. It has a Velux window at one end and interesting angles. We actually used it as our bedroom until our daughter was born. Now it's very much his room, a mancave. He loves that room so much.

Also on the top floor is another bedroom and shower room. The landing on this floor has a gorgeous alcove, which is the ideal place to relax with a book. With its immaculate, stylish and neutral décor throughout, you can let your imagination run wild with ideas on how to make it yours.

The lounge is another room that runs the length of the property. It's huge, and has patio doors that lead onto the garden. It was so nice in the summer, we could have the doors open and spend time inside and out and yet still be together. The front room was marketed as a dining room; we've made it into a snug, but would have transformed it into a playroom if we were staying.

We both really love this house, if we could take it with us we would. It's going to be so hard to replace.

It is only by viewing that you will know if this house could become your home, and we can't wait to show you around epr: B
